Continuing the Mission’s volunteer Puppy Raisers play an integral role in the training and development of our service dogs. Puppy Raisers teach their puppy basic obedience and take the puppy out into the community (church, school events, grocery store, etc.) to socialize it to various situations and environments.
Puppy Raisers commit to attending a weekly puppy class and get the benefit of a community of being in a community of others all on this exciting journey together.
The Puppy Raiser responsibility is typically 12-18 months.
CTM will provide:
- Crate
- Collar/Leash
- Bowls
- Food
- Veterinary care to include heartworm/flea/tick preventatives
Puppy Raisers provide:
- Toys
- Treats
- Replacement collars/leashes
- Time, patience, and love
Puppy Raising is a big commitment, but the rewards are great. Puppy Raisers support Veterans by providing valuable development and socialization training for CTM service dogs. Becoming a Puppy Raiser gives volunteers the opportunity to give back individually or as a family, and to fulfill a community service requirement for your school/organization.
